Centrally located between four major cities in KY but situated among idyllic farmlands, Breckinridge County offers access to the Ohio River, tons of community pride, and a top performing school system. Breckinridge County is the sixth largest county geographically in the state of Kentucky with 572 sq. miles. Although agricultural related jobs are the primary source of income, the Breckinridge County Board of Education is the largest employer in the county. The Breckinridge County School District consists of six schools: Breckinridge County High School, Breckinridge County Middle School, Ben Johnson Elementary, Custer Elementary, Hardinsburg Elementary, and Irvington Elementary. In addition, the Breckinridge County Area Technology Center has become known as one of the top technological systems in the state. Active support services for students and families include Head Start, Migrant, FRYSC and ESS programs. In addition, strong community support enhances the learning opportunities of each student. |
